Contemporary Sandbanks style

The clients desired a high-quality kitchen for their modern waterfront home's open living area, aiming to accommodate large gatherings while remaining the heart of the home with a wow factor for guests. Understanding their core requirements was crucial in achieving a functional yet stylish design. After extensive discussions about their preferences, an impressive kitchen layout was finalised.

The design features two interconnected spaces: a main 'presentation' kitchen in the living area and a 'prep' kitchen for catering, separated by a Rimadesio sliding pocket door. The sliding glass door runs along on a ceiling track, seamlessly dividing the spaces without interrupting the herringbone tile floors.

When viewed from the front, the generously sized presentation kitchen presents a layered look of materials and finishes. The kitchen island features stainless steel plinths with anthracite drawers and a floating breakfast bar.

The placement of the BORA X Pure recirculating cooktop on the island removes the need for an overhead extractor and allows an unobstructed view of the wider living space. The focal point of the island is the striking 'Tropical Storm' granite worktop, a natural piece of art with captivating patterns.

The bulthaup b3 wall of golden sand beige aluminium panels maximise the reflection of natural light into the room. The wall system also integrates a flatscreen mounting and storage. The Flint laminate cabinetry along the back wall of the ‘Presentation’ kitchen follows through into the adjacent ‘Prep’ kitchen, linking the two spaces. A striking Wolf range cooker and stainless-steel Westin cooker hood are the highlights of the highly functional, but subtle ‘Prep’ kitchen.

This split design facilitates efficient catering services while keeping prep areas discreet during gatherings. The social island serves as a favourite spot for casual dining with panoramic views over Poole harbour.
